Anonymous wonder about the "Operation Wisconsin"

There were Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and these days ... Wisconsin. The informal group Anonymous, which brings together spontaneously and temporary volunteer activists around one or several causes, has multiplied in recent weeks operations punch. Latest: # OpWisconsin for "Wisconsin operation," in protest against the policies of the conservative governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, who has angered unions and Democrats.

This multiplication of targets is not in itself a novelty for Anonymous. Decentralized anarchist willingly and without a leader, the collective has always led several battles simultaneously. But raids in American politics are rare on the part of the group, which focuses on issues of general international censure, Web filtering, and refrains from taking part for a political party.

The launch of "Operation Wisconsin" has provoked discussion within the movement, both on site that specializes AnonNews on IRC chat channels. This is one of the principles of Anonymous: anyone can claim "anonymous", and issue calls to support a cause or to attack a target seen as an oppressor.

But this lack of centralization has its limitations: several recent texts published on AnonNews recall that "nobody speaks for Anonymous. Nothing is official. No video. No operation. Even this press release, although it was created by an unknown number of anonymous people at a time and location unknown, posted anonymously, do not speak on behalf of Anonymous.

"The other text, to reporters, noted that "as the mark Anonymous has gained legitimacy, opportunistic and will continue to try to espouse their own political agenda in motion." ANONYMOUS AFTER THE "magnanimous" Because if the supporters of Anonymous have questions, turn to the chat channel dedicated to "Operation Wisconsin" in lieu of continuing debate on what is Anonymous, and how to define its members, but also because some calls to action Recent contrast with the usual style of the group.

This release, for instance, calls for a boycott of products of Koch, whose owners support the Governor Walker, and support trade unions. modes of action are not those of Anonymous, more accustomed to computer attacks, denial of service. If "Operation Wisconsin" is somewhat different from the conventional operations of Anonymous, it's also because it is corevendiquée by another group: Magnanimous, "the magnanimous "who define themselves as a sub-division of Anonymous, vested in the governor's rejection of Walker, who seems more comfortable with traditional methods of claims that cyber attacks.

So much so that some Anonymous, yet sensitive to the cause, really are confused: "This pad [document editable by multiple users anonymously, used widely by Anonymous] seems created for union activists [...]. I think we should create another pad that takes into account the key elements of Anonymous: lol [humor], goatse, erotic bakery, freedom of expression, the comedy of repetition, and criticism of the concentration of power the hands of big business.
