The organization of Congress has adopted a general service Wi-Fi inside the enclosure of the Fira de Barcelona.
There is Wi-Fi services offered in the various halls areas supplied by companies such as Cisco but do not work at all (for example, in the pavilion eight). Still, the coverage is minimal and often fails. Coverage via 3G mobile network is even worse. Connections fail or are very slow both inside and outside the enclosure.
So, connect the hotels that are around the Plaza of Spain, where is located the Fira, is a real headache. The problem is that many of these hotels and in the Ayre, the headquarters of Telefónica, or Catalonia, and informational events are held congresisitas journalists and they are seen and want to convey the chronicles and reports.
The problems of coverage in the Mobile World Congress are repeated year after year, but the collapse becomes more visible during the presentations, such as that held Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, this afternoon at Catalonia. In this edition, the fair organizers say they have improved the arrangement of the antennas and infrastructure, but says it is impossible to foresee the peaks of connection, especially because, thanks to new devices such as tablets and smartphones, the demand for bandwidth for services but also to upload and download videos has exploded.
