Apple has begun producing a new model iPad

The Cupertino company has started production of a new version of its multimedia tablet iPad, reports the Wall Street Journal, Wednesday, Feb. 9. The new iPad, thinner and lighter, will have a faster graphics processor and more memory available, says the business daily, citing sources familiar with the matter.

It will be equipped with at least one camera on the front. According to the Wall Street Journal, the iPad second generation will be marketed in the U.S. by telecom operators Verizon Wireless and AT & T. Apple, which announced in January that elapsed iPad 7.33 million in the first quarter of its fiscal year, was not immediately available for comment.

MARKET INCREASINGLY COMPETITIVE The touch pads sector becomes increasingly competitive. Google introduced in early February, a new version of its Android operating system (3.0), designed for touch pads. At the last Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held in Las Vegas in January, many manufacturers such as Motorola and Asus, and have presented models using the Android system.

And Research in Motion, maker of BlackBerry smartphones has also demonstrated its tablet. Other actors, such as Dell, the second global manufacturer of computers, also hope to take shares in the market shelves. Marketed around mid-2011, the future mobile device from Dell, will have a 10 inch screen diagonal (25 cm) and an Intel chip.

This tablet will also work with the Windows operating system from Microsoft. According to estimates from research firm iSuppli, global sales of tablets could increase from 17.4 million in 2010 to over 200 million in 2015.
