Tablets with Android, the protagonists of Barcelona

Past and surf the Mobile World Congress, it's time to make a general revision which have become protagonists in their own right, the fair of Barcelona, the tablets with Android operating system. Unless a model from Acer and Asus with Windows 7, the excellent Blackberry Playbook, and HP TouchPad also interesting Web OS, the rest of the tablet segment of this edition has been taken by assault by the operating system from Google, either version 3.0 Honeycomb, or with Android 2.4.

Leading the assault droid we supertablets the great dual-core processors and the new 3.0 version of Android, commonly known as Honeycomb. In this step, the first two representatives are the Galaxy Samsung Motorola Tab 10.1 and Xoom. Both devices are very similar in specs. Among the few differences are the dimensions and weight.

The Samsung model is 10.9 millimeters thick and 599 grams compared to 12.9 mm and 730 grams of Motorola Xoom. The model also incorporates Samsung's 8-megapixel sensor in the camera back compared to 5 of Xoom, which also gives video recording 720p 1080p compared to the model of Motorola.

Otherwise, Honeycomb without personalizing both carry and display dual-core processor. From Samsung swear that the tablet has its own processor, but unconfirmed sources say Nvidia is a Nvidia Tegra 2 such as Motorola. Either way, its power is equivalent, at least on paper. If there are no last-minute surprises, the Motorola Xoom should reach this day February 24 at U.S.

stores at a price of $ 799, as 3G, or WiFi only $ 600. Some unofficial reports even suggest that the Galaxy Samsung 10.1 Tab reach European stores in March Vodafone's hand at a yet unspecified price. Between the two giants, we found a third were equal in performance and even add 3D video recording thanks to a double 5-megapixel camera.

LG is the Optimus Pad. South Korea has decided to reduce the screen size (not resolution) to 8.9 inches for improved ergonomics. It says it will launch again in March and will come to Spain in May. Its price remains a complete mystery. We went down a step to find a second set of tablets that do not bear Honeycomb, but indications are that it will at launch or soon afterwards.

The first is the HTC Flyer. The company has decided to go for a smaller tablet (7 inches) and 1.5Ghz processor rather than dual-core 1GHz. In operating system, Android HTC Flyer committed cash 2.4 with HTC interface Sense. From HTC told us that the Flyer is perfectly upgradeable Honeycomb, and even gave us a deadline, 60 days, since its commercial launch.

Have to wait and see how to solve this data, although Taiwan's bid has personality and sufficient merit to attract many users. If we look at what is published on Amazon, the price will be free from HTC Flyer of 669 euros. It is still unknown launch date. Together with HTC, we find another Taiwanese Acer.

Betting market for tablets with Android are Iconia Tab Acer A500, with 10.1-inch and 7-screen namesake, Acer A100 Iconia Tab. Although the fair had to try without upgrading to Honeycomb, it would just dismiss them from the list because if we rely on Acer, will come in April with the latest version of Android and equipped.

In addition, prices promise to be competitive. The Acer Iconia Tab 600 or A500 will cost 450 euros (as 3G or WiFi), and Tab Iconia A100 will cost only 450 or 350 euros. Inside are two dual core processors and Nvidia Tegra 2 specifications very similar to Samsung and Motorola models. We in Taiwan to speak also from Asus.

The company that created the Netbook concept works in two tablet models, presumably, will also Honeycomb. These are Asus and Asus EeePad Slider EeePad Transformer. Both are a little heavier and thicker than the Motorola models such as Xoom, but integrated keyboard in different ways and share many of their specifications.

Although the presence of Asus at Mobile World Congress has been just outstanding, it is assumed that both tablets are perfectly capable of dealing with the models presented by other manufacturers. If there are delays, it would not be the first time with Asus, the Slider and the Transformer hit stores in May at a price that is still unknown.

The group of devices and Wannabe Honeycomb Honeycomb is closed with the Toshiba Tablet. We saw in the Nvidia booth, but had not yet integrated the latest version of Android, and have not, has no name. We fear that it will take several months to even talk about price or release. So much for the review of the heavyweights of the Mobile OS Android.

The third step of our descent into the depths of Google's operating system leads to devices that seek to compete in this segment with a moderate price and performance. Tablet is equipped with 7-inch 1Ghz processors or less with a configuration similar to the original Tab Samsung Galaxy.

Foremost in our view is the Huawei Ida Slim S7, revised and improved version of the S7 Ida. Currently there are no release date or price confirmed. Another tablet that may be worthwhile if the price is right will ZTE V9 V9 + or Plus, updated version with a 1GHz processor and the first tablet Android 2.2 V9 company ZTE China.

Huawei and ZTE to close the review of the Android tablets of the fair. All that remains is to mention the ViewPad Viewsonic 10 Pro, a hybrid model that carries Android 2.2 and Intel Windows 7 under Oak Trail and who know so little data to better stop here. Surely that 2011 still holds many surprises us in the tablet segment.

Especially after the announcements from Nvidia and Qualcomm quad-core processor. According to Nvidia, in August we will begin to hear about new tablet equipped with these Superchips. We take Visa Santa confessed.
