The U.S. Senate is looking into accusations against Google

The U.S. Senate committee responsible for issues of abuse of dominant position consideration during the next session of Parliament the charges of obstructing competition against Google, said the Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl, who publishes on its website the program committee for the next parliamentary session.

"In recent years, the dominance of Google, the largest search engine in the world, has increased the search results. In this perspective, we examine the accusations of online commerce sites that say they are unfairly poorly referenced and are facing difficulties in buying advertising, "details the agenda of the committee.

The search engine is already the subject of a preliminary investigation by the European Commission on the same subject. Of e-commerce sites accuse the search unduly favor its own services over those of competitors, Google denies. In recent months, the online travel companies have voiced their concerns after the takeover was announced by Google ITA Software, which publishes software flight reservation, and his interest in travel sites.

They fear that eventually benefit Google's own services and therefore reduce their clientele. For several years, Google opposed to such accusations of "neutrality" in its ranking algorithm, and claimed never to make changes to improve or degrade the classification of a site. In recent months, Google has acknowledged - as Bing, the Microsoft engine - make manual changes and specific, whether positive or negative results to correct perceived as aberrant.

Faced with the increasing number of websites that do not publish their own content but optimize seo for itself in the results pages of search engine, Google conducted an update of its algorithm in late February. After conducting tests via an extension of its Chrome browser, Google has offered on Friday its U.S.

users registered to block links to sites that the user wants to see disappear from search results pages. The collection of sites blocked by individual users will also enable the search engine to determine which sites are likely to be "upgraded" by the algorithm.
