A dozen U.S. companies, including banks JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup, have warned their customers that they can be the target of attempted fraud after millions of email addresses have been stolen from the advertising firm Epsilon.
JPMorgan Chase has reminded its customers that never enter their bank details in an e-mail and to use caution with any email that asks for personal information, especially banking. Warning to its customers comes three days after the company Epsilon, which manages advertising on many U.S. firms email, informing them that someone agreed to its databases on 30 March and was named consumer and email addresses. Epsilon said investigating to determine the details of the incident and said no other personal information stolen from their databases, which today reiterated its customers the banks JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup, among others.
