Liberty Tab, tablet, Packard Bell, coming in June

Among laptops, monitors, desktop computers and hard drives, Packard Bell has been presented in Madrid their tablet with Android. Coming in June in the only version with wifi connection. A month later will do it with a 3G module. The device will come in three colors: red, white or black, but according to Luca Rossi, CEO of the company, they will be gradually adding more colors.

The tablet, weighing a little high, 1.3 kilos, kept the classic 10-inch format with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels. Unlike most of its competitors, the front camera, which is used for video conferencing, is 2 megapixels. The back for photos and videos in high definition is 5. As usual, it connects via wifi and Bluetooth to share files.

The sense of transition between management applications and graphics in games and movies are pretty good. It is agile in moving from one task to another. Memory is expandable to 32 gigs through the microSD card. The comparison with the iPad is more than required. Lost in design. The curves are kept, nice touch, but it is heavy.

In addition, the display frame is excessive for the size of it. All buttons are integrated into the device profile, and the three start, menu and return of Android are backlit on the frame. One of the more questionable finish is the top of the slot. You have to remove it, not quite, because the device hangs, with hints of that story is completed by release will be lost.

The estimated life of the battery is 10 hours. On the positive side of the tablet should be mentioned that has a USB port, HDMI and Mini USB connectivity which guarantees a much broader than that offered by Apple. The unit will have a keyboard, case, brackets and all the usual range of accessories.

The idea of the brand is to offer both separately and bundled with the tablet. Although most manufacturers often add a layer of software on Android, something like an operating system customization, Packard Bell is not in favor of more complicated. "We think it best to give it as it comes and that the user feels comfortable with the environment, what we do we will add a program that we consider attractive or useful.

That is, something that is adding but not complciar" he said Rossi. Acer's subsidiary held consumer focus that has become the third largest manufacturer of laptops so far this year according to GfK. The first is Hewlett Packard with 22% followed by 16% Acer and Packard Bell to 14%. Then there is ASUS with 10%.

Sony has a 6% share and Apple 4%.
