Open Hardware 1.0, the specification of the hardware license free is a reality

As we open software (FOSS), the same term was born this week with regard to hardware. Open Hardware 1.0, or OSHW (Open Source Hardware) is a specification with a set of principles for creating hardware components of free distribution that has been being developed over recent months. The idea, as we say, is the same as that of the free software: you can create your circuitry, document it and post it for any other interested person may use, study and of course better.

Obviously you can be you who seek information about a component to study and, if you wish, use it to your interests. The current specification OSHW 1.0 is a set of twelve rules about the needs that a project must have in order to be considered OSHW. We are facing a very interesting initiative that surely many students appreciate the subject when taking ideas for their own projects.

The growth curve of Open Source Hardware will be long and heavy, starting with small projects and gradually improved in both quality and quantity. Hopefully in a few years we continue talking about new versions of OSHW, a sign that a project will continue in operation. Note: The logo you see in this post is not the official and final.

This is one of the 50 designs that have now been sent to enter a contest in which over the month of March will determine the official and final. Track | MAKE. More | FreedomDefined.
