At the moment, Sony Ericsson seems caught up in the projects of its new handheld console and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. So much so, that has not yet requested the floor in the tablet market. The Japanese, however, does not rule into this war by any means. In our round of interviews with the leading mobile manufacturers, we could not spend some time aside to talk with Luis Javier Díaz Iglesias, director of marketing for Sony-Ericsson for Spain and Portugal.

Tech News Buzz: It seems that, after years of crisis, Sony Ericsson and is ready to do battle for top spot in the mobile market. "Schools is your situation and what plans you have for this year? Luis Javier Díaz Iglesias: From the first trimester of 2010, Sony Ericsson came out of the red after three quarters have been at a loss because, indeed, there was a period in which the company's strategy was unclear.

With the arrival of our new president, the strategy has closely set about working around Android operating system for Smartphones. This has allowed, with the arrival in 2010 of the new Xperia range X10, grow back into profits and raise our overall quota. In Spain, during the period from April to November 2010, we have been núemro a market share of Android.

As for 2011, we have very clear about our strategy. We want to mix media and entertainment in equal measure. Supported by a partner as strong as Sony allows us to incorporate innovations in nustros phones that would otherwise be very complex to integrate. The Xperia Arc, for example, includes Sony Bravia technology in its 4.2-inch screen for managing color, sharpness and contrast.

The same happens with Exmor sensor for photos in low light or integration with the PlayStation universe. From 2011 we will see more adoption of technologies from different divisions in the smartphone environment, mostly entertainment-oriented. Tech News Buzz: The platform war is a fact in front of the old competition between devices, and even now we see some very interesting movements, as the agreement between Nokia and Microsoft.

How do you see the picture from Sony mobile operating systems? Luis Javier Díaz Iglesias: In Sony are not married to anyone. We are a platform company. Now it is true that we have abandoned the Symbian Foundation and we will not release any lower terminal Symbian. Similarly, we are waiting to see how it evolves Windows Phone 7.

In the future we could develop phones with this operating system as long as they show a clear trend of growth and is supported by the ecosystem. At the moment, our main platform remains Android and the owner for our lower-middle range. Tech News Buzz: We are witnessing a real boom of the phenomenon tablet.

But Sony Ericsson seems to have been in no man's land in this sense why you have not yet intervened in this market?
