Microsoft and Ford Sync announce the arrival of Europe

Ford will report on the day today that its Sync technology is on its way to Europe and to talk about it I have no better proposal that special Daniel Seijo prepared for us last January, with information directly from Detroit. At week's CEBIT, especially during the day, Ford's top leaders made a presentation of the strategy that the automobile company has about Sync, the name under which Ford has named a number of networking technologies in vehicle.

The car with which the American firm wants to introduce technology in the old continent is the renewed and well-known compact Ford Focus, which starts its marketing in Spain this month. Ford's idea is to reach 2 million vehicles connected with SYNC in 2015, in Europe, a figure quite optimistic, but we must bear in mind that the Focus is one of the best-selling compact in Europe, and no reason not to remain so.

Please remember that SYNC began steps for the first time in 2007 in some cars, and allows the driver to control certain functions with voice traffic and weather information, news, and one of its most powerful capabilities: sync with phones, media players and other Bluetooth devices. We're leaving the other protagonist of the story aside, is that Microsoft is the creator of the operating system that is based on the Ford SYNC, namely Windows CE.

To date has sold more than 3 million cars with the technology. The arrival of all the possibilities of Sync to Europe are welcome, although some were already present in our cars, we also hope to premiere the latest version of the interface MyFord Touch. In addition to the information screen behind the wheel of the Focus, it incorporates an 8-inch touch screen in which we have much information, perhaps too much, and can operate it with the car stopped.

From here we control the phone, browser, multimedia and air conditioning, along with some customizations that can be performed on the interface. Other enhancements to the latest version of the system will find the possibility to use more natural language speech recognition. Finally we emphasize the possibility of the system to connect to WiFi networks, and we have even a web browser that can only be used with the car stopped, and even serves as a RSS feed reader.

In case you're wondering, the applications are not yet a land that Ford has touched. We are glad that in this renewal of the Focus, Ford was taken to match the interest in this type of performance the American and European model, is that although the system does not a revolution compared to what we presented competition is a good performance and adds value to the options, technology, a car that will sell significantly.
