Apple on Thursday launched an update of its operating system IOS for iPhone and iPad tablet, one of the main developments is to reduce the number of location information recorded by these devices. The company hopes to put an end to criticism that she was subjected in recent days after the publication of a study showing that many Apple devices recorded location information, and for a period of one year.

Sign of the seriousness of the crisis, Steve Jobs, the cofounder of the company, sick leave, which had appeared to defend the company's practices. Mr. Jobs had said that the iPhone and iPad recorded many location information, but these data were stored anonymously, and were not used to track users.

According to Mr. Jobs, this information is only used to map access points and wireless antennas. The search engine Google, which makes a collection of the same type of information through smart phones using its Android operating system and via Google for fueling his car mapping service, is also the subject of sharp criticism, and a survey of the National Computer and Freedoms.

Steve Jobs had acknowledged last week that the shelf life data, a year was too long. Updating IOS reduced the amount of data stored and not the longer syncs with iTunes, the content management software from Apple. The company does not specify how much data is reduced or if the shelf life will be changed.
