Electronic Arts cut its loss in its fiscal offset

The American publisher of video games Electronic Arts (EA) announced Wednesday, May 4, a greater reduction than-expected net loss, 276 million (EUR 186 million) on its overall performance offbeat 2010-2011. In 2009-2010, the net loss was $ 677 million (457 million dollars. The turnover for its share declined 1.8% to 3.6 billion dollars (2.4 billion euros ), below analysts' expectations, which stood at 3.76 billion dollars (2.54 billion euros).

In the fourth quarter alone, the publisher is ironed in the green, with a net profit tripled on a year to 151 million dollars (102 million). Sales were up 11% year on year to 1.1 billion dollars (742 million) during the quarter. "We are pleased to announce another strong quarter, both for profit and turnover.

We are particularly proud of the magnitude and growth of our digital business, "commented CEO John Riccitiello said in a statement. INVESTMENTS IN MOBILITY The publisher had welcomed the good results of his gaming license football, FIFA, whose latest version has sold 12 million copies. The group also highlighted the strong sales of its game War battlefield, or the racing game Need for Speed.

The U.S. publisher also announced yesterday the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, the Australian studio Firemint to strengthen its presence on mobile devices and touch pads.
