Apple iPad pushed to third in global PC sales

Canalys has released its figures for global PC market in the fourth quarter of 2010 and includes the tablets as such. Apple has pushed it into third place in the list. Jobs's company reached a market share of 10.8% when in the fourth quarter of 2009 was 3.8%. Apple has sold 4.13 million and 7.33 million Mac iPad.

HP remains at the top of the list with 17.7% market share, followed by Acer (12.8%). Canalys prefaces his study with a consideration of teaching: "Manufacturers have to accept the new market realities by recognizing the tablets as a new element in the overall market for PCs." The company points out that a similar debate took place with the advent of netbooks that some analysts are not included in the lists on the PC market.

Toshiba and Compaq, for example, had significant increases as manufacturers of computers with laptops and Asus or Acer enjoyed similar increases with their netbooks. Now, the benefit tablets Samsung and Apple. IPad integrating these accounts, the global market for computers has grown by 19%.

In the regional analysis, Asian countries and particularly China have very strong growth benefiting especially Dell and Lenovo. In Europe and Africa can be seen stagnation due to, among other reasons, the increase in VAT in several countries and consumer savings. Canalys predicts sales policy in this area where the public sector has also reduced purchases.
