Launch OpenLeaks, an alternative to Wikileaks

OpenLeaks 101 Openleaks from Vimeo. The site OpenLeaks, ridden by former members of Wikileaks, opened on Friday 28 January, a month behind the originally scheduled date. Like Wikileaks, OpenLeaks intends to publish the documents provided by informants that anonymity is guaranteed. The project was mounted by several Wikileaks dissidents, including Domscheit Daniel Berg, the former spokesman for Germany, organization.

Mr. Berg-Domscheit left it last year after a violent conflict with the co-founder Julian Assange. He denounced a growing authoritarianism by Mr. Assange and management of funds and too secret information received by the organization. What differentiate OpenLeaks to Wikileaks? The new site promises transparency as thorough as possible, including its budget.

But above all, the site will not publish documents directly to him will be forwarded, as does Wikileaks, it will ensure they will be sent instead - for free - to newspapers or organizations wishing to read or publish. "OpenLeaks is not an alternative or competitor to Wikileaks, say its founders.

This is a complementary project to provide resources that Wikileaks does not or can not provide. "The disagreement between the teams of both projects, and the fact that they are calling the same potential sources, however, seems indicate that competition does exist between the two services.
