HD7 HTC, Windows Mobile Phone 7 for analysis (II)

We continue with the analysis of HTC HD7, and having already talked about the terminal and its excellent screen pass with something really important: Phone operating system Windows 7 and its operation in this terminal. WP7 is not like what were the Windows Mobile 6.5 and earlier. That is totally different to that, and obviously kept the path he is following the competition: 100% tactile interfaces, transitions between menus and high usability are some of their characteristics.

If you want to go deeper, then we will play three aspects: the sensations WP7 has passed on, their pros and cons. If you've seen the video of this analysis you will have proven fluency Phone operating system Windows 7, how well they move and the good work Microsoft has done in his new mobile.

So, Windows 7 has begun Phone very good footing. Moves with breathtaking ease in all circumstances, changes between application menu and are very quick and in general, WP7 has nothing to envy of its rivals. From my point of view is very, very close to IOS, and a step ahead of Android at least in terms of design and performance.

Applications and features is another matter. The good thing is yet to come. We are still before the first version of Windows Phone 7, a system that has begun to hit the market late last year and whose future will be very busy, as has already been confirmed a major upgrade over February.

Perhaps the major drawback of Windows Phone 7, both within the HTC HD7 WP7 and other terminals, there is no push notification for applications. Well, we must clarify that not all applications have them, since our only evidence we have seen e-mail and marketplace. Neither Twitter or Facebook or other social networks have them.

Notices, something that is so important is happening in mobile devices will eventually be integrated into the system, or otherwise provided shall be considered incomplete. Another big mistake is the famous copy and paste. Microsoft Did not you learn all the hoopla that was mounted when did Apple? No, and have since run into the same stone.

Nothing to copy and paste for now, though it seems to be one of the novelties of the new version of the system for the February update. Microsoft is one of the longest running companies in the world of technology, and the next was something I saw coming, my software is mine, and use my programs and my I please: the only browser available is Internet Explorer ( HTML5 and no flash, of course) and has to Bing as an ally in the search.

Do not expect anything, really, although it maintained an aura of hope that Microsoft will allow the user a choice of at least their search engine. Then we have some usability flaws, perhaps to simplify things, but for advanced users bother us: there is no GPS as such, but we will only have what is called location.

There are also times where the configuration of some applications is something strange and difficult to understand, although not a constant throughout the system, of course. We'll talk about two of the biggest drawbacks of WP7 over its competitors: first, there are no shortcuts to disable functions like GPS, wireless connectivity and synchronization, but we have to walk a long way (start menu -> list of applications -> settings -> application specific -> deactivate -> back to menu) to something as simple as can be to remove the 3G connection or change it to 2G only.

And secondly and more importantly, if we are working with multiple applications at once (for example, Twitter and e) we have to close an access to the other force. There is no application switching mechanism as does occur in both iOS as Android and Blackberry OS. Just close the application, we look the other and open.

This is more cumbersome if we must also go to the application list and search. And if you're the last in the list (eg Youtube) then take us further. In view of the previous section may appear to Phone Windows 7 is a lousy mobile operating system, the worst in the market. No, no and no. Phone Windows 7 has a range of natural and logical disadvantages as the first version.

Well, the copy / paste is not logical, but let's leave aside. Phone The best of Windows 7 is that part with an excellent base. It is a very stable and reliable, the movements are excellent and do not notice any slowdown at any time, whatever the application. In addition to the fluidity of the interface, the battery is its second major advantage over its competitors.

The HTC HD7 hold more than 2 days with the same load, making a standard application (email, Twitter, a couple of calls a few minutes a day and 3G enabled at all times). If we hurry we will get to 3 days, and even more if we minimize the use of the terminal. And consider that in this case, the screen is a beautiful 4.3-inch and repeat, we have the 3G mobile connection on at all times, one of the functions that consume on a phone.

Why put so much? The answer is that no notifications, and therefore need no background applications that consume memory, which implies that the consumption of energy resources is significantly lower than in other operating systems. I do not know what is the autonomy of other devices WP7, but possibly improve the HD7 because the screens, 4 instead of 4.3 inches.

Another advantage is the interface is very different from the traditional and, from my point of view, very accurate, since as we have said thanks to the whole win well it works. Of course, this is already very personal issue and in which everyone has their opinion. We must recognize that unlike the more traditional thinking, Microsoft has developed a very different interface that provides the competition HTC HD7 is a terminal that continues the line followed by HTC in their latest products, has a great design, some very good features and proposes an alternative to more traditional systems.

Phone Windows 7 is a complete makeover first version of previous Windows Mobile operating systems. Microsoft has decided to erase and redo everything from scratch, leading to a stable, fast and very consistent. Has a set of minor faults, but not unimportant: copy and paste functions, a quick change between applications or push notifications are some of the many new features that Microsoft should implement to deal with competition.

Returning to the terminal as such, HTC HD7 features a huge screen. "Maybe too big? It is certainly larger than normal, but it is a monster that will not fit in our pockets. This size will be appreciated when using the touchpad (for the most comfortable we've tested), but hurt other aspects as the total weight of the device.
