Widi Intel, it has been our experience

Although wirelessly connect any equipment seamlessly sure it is in the minds of all consumers, the implementation has not yet managed to forget problems. Yesterday's video show you how this technology promoted by Intel and today we're going to tell you how it has been our experience with our friend Widi.

To make use of Widi there are two conditions that must comply. On the one hand, laptop or desktop you want to connect to the TV must have the latest chips from Intel (i3, i5 and i8) and be in the list of equipment compatible with the Intel Wireless Display. It also correctly update the driver of the WiFi connection to keep us from error.

In our case, using the Asus Bamboo, we had to reinstall. Once you know we have a compatible computer, we download the software to connect the computer with Intel Wireless Display. These are the conditions in the case of the issuer. The receiver, which will be a TV, you must have connected an adapter, which in our case was the Netgear Push2TV, a device with very small size (more or less like a portable hard drive) that can be connected via HDMI to TV and be the liaison with the laptop.

This device does not require configuration and we just have to wait until the laptop find it, enter a four digit pair, and that's it. From that moment on what we see on the laptop in the big screen TV. Make the connection, and can work, show photos, watch videos or surf the Internet on the TV.

Widi system sends the image and sound, so we will not use the laptop, if anyone had doubts about it. Refreshment between what we do on the laptop and this is reflected in the TV screen is not instantaneous. Our feeling is that it takes about a second (ie, it is noticeable to the human eye) to refresh the TV content.

Once this assessment, we confirm that this is not a problem for multimedia applications or work but perhaps to players who want to use the big screen playing area and control it from a desktop or laptop. As one of the most common uses of this technology could be the multimedia playback (avoiding problems with codecs, interface ...), we must warn you the quality you get is not far from that achieved via HDMI directly connecting computer to TV .

The image quality is pretty basic, does not support all screen resolutions and although there is no problem with video playback up to 720p HD video with noticeable jumps very significant. For these reasons (special conditions, image quality, delay ...) do not think it worthwhile to let you connect a laptop directly to the TV via HDMI to have some comfort (unless absolutely necessary to do so without cables) in reproducing video.

At least not with technology as Widi is raised or the degree of unsaturation that has in the market, and the price of 100 euros the adapter. We can always opt for direct connection, a media center or in our case we had better, technology. Work, work. Both the Asus Bamboo laptop like device Push2TV have been transferred to the test by Asus and Netgear.
