French publishers want to pursue Hadopi electronic books downloads

Antidescargas French law, Hadopi, traffic monitoring movies and music through P2P file sharing systems. French publishers also want to include in its list of investigations to the eBook. According to various French media, the management of the editors has begun searching for a company to take charge of tracing P2P download digital books to send data to authorities and begin the process of prosecuting them.

The method is followed by film production companies and music publishers who have hired a company to provide them with Internet addresses suspected of downloading these listings come with the authority to initiate the sending of the three warnings before cutting Internet users connect to the judge to plead guilty.

The problem is that the cost of tracking seems superior, for now, the volume of downloaded digital books. The effectiveness of the French system is in constant discussion. According to the authority itself Hadopi, one in two French continues to shock and there is a notable growth of services that do not use P2P systems, such as Rapidshare or Megaupload and consumption in streaming (no download) of the works.

37% of French people go to these services compared to 42% which uses the P2P. 7.4 million French Megaupload visited in November when two years ago the figure was 350.00. The French authorities have a problem with these services because, based on foreign servers, the companies dedicated to trace the Internet addresses of active Internet users in the P2P would be more difficult to get information on what specific file is being downloaded by an Internet and That information is held by the company offering the service.

However, a member of the authority Hadopi, Jacques Toubon, said that Hadopi allow tracking of streaming with only a modification of the regulations governing the prosecution of downloads and that everything will come "in due course." In fact, in his second letter to Internet download that is suspected of sending Hadopi explains that "voluntary behavior consultation, provision or reproduction of works protected by copyright, commonly called 'piracy', constitute a crime" .

Number me has replicated Toubon purposes and in this paragraph of the letter pointing out that reading a book or listening to pirated music is not a criminal offense. What constitutes making a copy. Hadopi authority has already launched the second phase of the three that notice should be sent to Internet users.

The head of the Universal label in France estimated that in June, will be sending out 10,000 notices Hadopi day. In Hadopi budgets for this year include 450,000 euros to improve its computer system and 650,000 to cover the mailing of the second notice (the first made by e-mail) to be handled by certified mail.
