Price: everything is more expensive, not just a telephone

Feels like we always so everything is more expensive, but that's not quite right: Telecommunications and Internet are becoming cheaper. The documents, the Federal Statistical Office based on current figures, also applied to the alleged Expensive-2010. Wiesbaden - Competition for full-service packages can be the price of telephone and Internet use continue to tumble.

The consumer price index for telecommunications, including mobile communications, was in the average in 2010 by 2.0 percent below the 2009 level, the Federal Statistical Office reported on Thursday in Wiesbaden. This continued a long-standing trend: From 2005 to 2010 was this consumer price index rose by 10.6 percent - of the decline in prices is therefore continuous.

The price of telephone services in the fixed network and the Internet in this period fell by 8.4 percent. In mobile communications, the prices of mobile phone calls and data usage as much as 17.2 percent were lower than in 2005. Last year, telephone services in the fixed network and the Internet were 1.8 percent cheaper than in 2009.

The statisticians led this development, particularly on competition in the complete packages (phone, DSL connection, telephone and internet-flatrate flat rate) back. Such package deals are becoming the standard and now offered by newcomers to the industry: Still relatively new to the market, but increasingly successful in this particular the cable TV operators.

Their offers are attractive, especially for Internet users because they can usually offer more bandwidth than their competitors in the traditional telecommunications companies. Behind the other hand, advised consumers who pay as ever every single phone call: landline phone calls that were not performed on the flat of a complete range, were slightly more expensive (up 0.2 percent).

The mobile phone is cheaper - also due to political pressure and regulation at EU level - however, the average in 2010 to 2.8 percent. This compared with the previous discussions were not only effective but also mobile data services on mobile phones.
