Assange: "The Internet is the largest spy machine"

Julian Assange, co-founded Wikileaks, said Tuesday that the Internet was "the greatest spy machines that Tech News Buzz has ever known" and that it was not "a technology that favors freedom expression ". At a conference in Cambridge, Mr. Assange said that Internet is a technology that can be used to establish a totalitarian regime, of a type never seen before.

On the other hand, handled by us, activists, and all those who want to see Tech News Buzz Technology in another direction, [Internet] can bring the things we all want. " Hundreds of students had lined up several hours to attend the conference. The public appearances of Mr Assange have become extremely rare since last December and the beginning of his legal troubles.

He appealed the decision by a London court authorizing his extradition to Sweden, where he is accused of rape and sexual assault. Arab Revolt Julian Assange also felt that the role played by social networks during the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia had been largely overstated. To co-founded Wikileaks, Twitter and Facebook "have played a role well, but that was not comparable to that played by Al-Jazeera." Recalling a practical guide published by Egyptian activists began with the words "do not use Facebook and Twitter," Julian Assange reneged on an earlier protest in Egypt, where Facebook was used by the government to track participants events.

However, Julian Assange said that the publication of American diplomatic cables revealed by Wikileaks, had played a prominent role, especially in the uprising in Tunisia. "The Tunisian cables showed clearly a last resort, if a conflict between the army and supporters of Bin Ali, the U.S.

would support the army," Mr Assange detailed.
