Commodore's name will bring good memories to many of you, some spent their first hours of electronic entertainment with them, and some even made their first steps in the programming world. The company has rights to retro it knows what works in the market and has prepared new models of Commodore 64. As you can see in the pictures, exterior design is retained, but obviously has made an update to hardware equipment, and speak in plural because there are five different configurations.
Taking the common factor specification of the new Commodore, Intel Atom processors are dual core D525, Ion2 Nvidia graphics, 2GB of DDR3 RAM (expandable to 4GB), HDMI, and optical drive (DVD / RW). Not the best team to play Crysis, but it is an actual hardware with which you can navigate and work, and actually pay for having a retro design that some will be happy to be home decorating the bedroom.
The operating system chosen for the occasion, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, it is an emulator of the Commodore installed OS 1.0 with a pack of games, and a sort of media center where you can download other titles. Prices for this kind of barebone Commodore design starting at $ 595 for the basic model, up to $ 895 Ultimate model.
In the middle we have other configurations baptized as Standard and Deluxe. There is the possibility of buying just the barebone (250 dollars), or rather the keyboard / design Commodore computer and configure it inside at will, with options such as Blu-ray, or 1TB hard drive. The "new" Commodore 64 will be available in late May, early June, much later.
