Intel has filed this morning its new Intel Xeon microprocessors E3-1200, included in the Xeon product family that has traditionally been linked to the professional world in both servers and workstations. The CPU unveiled today are of a similar idea, maintaining its status as professional product but basic.
Its main purpose is, according to Intel, to be used in small business servers that do not have a huge workload endured. They are simple and have some characteristics of the elderly, such as ECC memory support, systems security and data redundancy and good performance in areas of virtualization.
In all cases include integrated GPU and comes to a total of 11 models, all accompanied by new Intel chipsets C026. These Xeon E3-1200 is an interesting alternative for small businesses that want a centralized server where all data in the office, although in many cases a basic desktop computer (type Intel Atom, AMD Fusion or similar) is more than enough.
Logically depend on the demands that each office has. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but more likely early adopters of Intel Xeon E3-1200 are the manufacturers that have always united to the world of Intel servers such as HP or Dell. Should be significantly more affordable than current servers to have a complete success, but then come into conflict with domestic CPU, as I say, sometimes also used in server computers.
