Europe approves proposed acquisition by McAfee Intel

The European Commission has authorized the purchase of security firm McAfee by the chip maker Intel. The permit imposes the condition that Intel, in its chips, not introduce systems that lead to the use of McAfee security system and curb the use of solutions from other companies. Given the strong presence in the market for Intel processors equipped with computers, the EU has paid particular attention to this point to prevent operations against the competition.

Intel's commitment in this area has opened the door to leave. Intel has ensured the interoperability of their products. Although the debate with Brussels had a high technical content, clarifications have allowed Intel to close the preliminary inquiry expeditiously. According to the text of the Commission, Intel and McAfee make complementary products and manufacturers of security products such as antivirus, need to be assured that the purchase of McAfee does not undermine their access to technical information from Intel to develop solutions .

The purchase was announced by Intel in August last year for 7680 million dollars, some 5.965 million euros passed.
