Apple Unveils iTunes via subscription system

Apple on Tuesday unveiled the terms of subscriptions to various forms of media (newspapers, music, videos) through its online store, App Store. Apple will take a commission of 30% of subscription revenues generated through its App Store, the firm said. The subscription offers will be available "at the same price or less" expensive on the App Store on newspaper sites, record companies and studios involved.

Apple also said that publishers were not allowed to provide links from their sites to sites foreigners "who can buy or subscribe to content from the outside of the App Store. "Our philosophy is simple," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. "When Apple brings to a new client (App Store), Apple earns a commission of 30%.

When the editor brings a new or existing customer new to the App Store, the publisher keeps 100% of revenue, "he detailed. The subscription service from Apple was first proposed at the Daily, a newspaper for digital iPad tablet, launched earlier this month by News Corp., the media group of billionaire Rupert Murdoch.

The newspaper editors had protested against the first information on the user subscription, arguing that it allowed Apple to not only capture a significant share of income but also and above all the customer data. Apple argued that publishers would set the price and duration of the subscription offer.

Customers will be automatically debited from their bank account online by subscription period selected.
