Intel Core i7 is official 990x

We had not forgotten him after all the earthquake news and analysis of the MWC 2011. Intel Core i7-990x is unofficial and delivers what was expected of him. After months of rumors (in August and November, for example) finally came along this week. The Intel Core i7 990x is, as expected, the most powerful new microprocessor domestic market.

We could say that is the natural heir of the i7-980X, offering similar features, continues to be a 32-nanometer Gulftown with 6 cores (12 threads thanks to Hyperthreading). In fact the only difference with the 980X is that the clock has been increased to 3.47 GHz, 3.33 for the former. As you know, the price of this new model will make it a processor that is not available to everyone.

Stood at $ 999, a figure already traditional for Intel's flagship model. At the end will be a model any parameter is unlocked and can be changed by the user, making a micro 990x ideal for overclocking. Little more to add. Rare will see the Intel Core i7 990x operating beyond in some fairs or events.

Clearly there are models whose price / quality ratio is much higher, and that after all this 990x can buy ... but will not be a bestseller, much less.
