ST-Ericsson wants Windows motorized to Nokia Phone 7

All 7 Windows phones we have in the main market share hardware with minor differences. Microsoft had to meet minimum specifications, and somehow decided that Qualcomm's Snapdragon platform should be chosen for use by all manufacturers. This optimization have achieved a great system in the terminals, Apple style, it seems a wise decision.

Logically, and in view of competition is being reinforced with multiple cores, it's time to start preparing the way, especially facing the development team, and external application developers to Microsoft. Come and talk about new hardware, and it seems that things may start to change if confirmed the news that comes from Reuters, the CEO of ST-Ericsson reports U8500 hardware platform is ready for use in Nokia's new handsets Windows Phone 7.

To give you a quick idea of the hardware we're talking about, uses two ARM Cortex A9 core, and a GPUARM Mali 400, so we have a solution similar to that used by Samsung in its Exynos 4210, formerly known as Orion. What makes it different from ST-Ericsson U8500 is that the chipset incorporates everything needed to mount a mobile device with connectivity to 21Mbps HSPA, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM radio.

Optimized as a whole that Qualcomm usually serve their customers, therefore a very interesting alternative. Do not think there's much doubt about the power and possibilities of the chipset, at least on paper, but we must also bear in mind that we talk about early 2012 as the date for the actual output of Nokia Phone with Windows 7, perhaps in that competition and is now playing with other more powerful solutions.

I believe that the news is quite important because the source has taken the statements of the CEO of ST-Ericsson, but that does not mean that Microsoft will choose this platform ahead of the new dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon. Maybe the guys from Redmond want to start having more Phone manufacturers Windows 7, and Nokia may be the first to premiere this possibility, thanks to the concessions achieved from the union.

ST-Ericsson supplies with electronics to major manufacturers like Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Nokia itself, and does not seem a very complicated arriving with new hardware, taking into account the statements of Microsoft: Track | Reuters.
