With version 9, Internet Explorer will take advantage

Faster and safer: since Tuesday, March 14, Microsoft offers for download the final version of Internet Explorer 9, its Internet browser, the main developments concerning the speed of navigation and new measures to protect the user. Long time leader of the browser market, Internet Explorer has in recent years, gradually lost market share, mainly against Firefox (Mozilla) and Chrome (Google).

Internet Explorer remains the most used browser in Tech News Buzz, with nearly 57% market share, according to figures from the firm NetApplications. With IE 9, Microsoft wants to reverse the trend. "This is not just a renewal of our browser, said Nicolas Petit, Director Consumer Marketing & Internet, Microsoft France.

IE 9 is back in the race to be the most innovative browser in the market." This new version includes such a form of graphics acceleration - which is to delegate some calculations display the computer's graphics card, allowing substantial gains in speed - and a new JavaScript engine, a language widely used on complex web pages.

These two technologies are not especially original: Chrome as Firefox rely on technologies to improve their performance close. But Microsoft believes it has a decisive advantage: its complete control not only the browser, but also of Windows, which remains by far the operating system most common in Tech News Buzz.

For this version 9, Microsoft has also pushed the integration of Internet Explorer in Windows. Sites "partners" Microsoft may well offer some kind of super-favorites, directly "pinned" in the taskbar, can be updated in real time and to propose specific functions such as alerts. CONTROL OF INFORMATION DISSEMINATED Another important change, the browser now includes a feature called tracking protection, or protection against surveillance.

"This allows the user to decide when he agreed to be 'path' in its business, such as when the site saves your browsing history," explains Nicolas Petit. Based on pre-established lists of sites - one for the French sites are still under development - this function is being reviewed by the W3C, the organization that standardizes web standards, Microsoft said.

These features will they be enough to regain the advantage? The battle of the browsers is, in all cases, strategic. "The Web now accounts for 50% of the time we spend in front of a computer is the first use of a PC today," recalls Nicolas Petit.
