Twitter is still in San Francisco

Twitter will finally keep its headquarters in the heart of San Francisco, one of the capitals of technology the U.S. west coast, the group announced on Friday 22 April. "The town where we grew up and started our next house will remain," said Sean Garrett, the head of communications, the official blog on Twitter.

Mr. Garrett said that moving the building's historic Market Square was scheduled for mid-2012. Earlier this year the company had threatened to "relocate" its employees and its headquarters in Brisbane, a few miles south. In his note to blog, Twitter thank several city officials, including Mayor Ed Lee, who has promised tax incentives to encourage the site to stay micromessages located in the city.

Companies based in San Francisco pay a tax of 1.5% on their payroll, paying companies for more than 150,000 dollars (110,000 euros) a year salary. GROWTH OF STAFF The city has promised exemptions from social contributions for hiring new employees for the next six years in enterprises located in the districts of Mid Market Street and the Tenderloin, to revitalize these areas in decline.

"We are proud that Twitter is among the first companies to relocate to the area from Central Market and to play a role in its revitalization with other businesses, arts organizations and many organizations working in the area for long," Mr. Garrett added. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Twitter now has 400 employees but plans to have up to 3000 by 2013, justifying the move.
