Chinese hackers stole data for two years energetic multinational

For two years, Chinese hackers had access to internal systems of five multinational oil and gas and could steal information of strategic value, has revealed the computer security company McAfee in a report, which does not detail what business is . Attacks known as Dragon Night could have affected about seven companies.

The facts "speak very poor state of our critical infrastructure security," said McAfee's vice president of threat research, Dmitri Alperovitch. This states that the pirates were not too sophisticated, yet they were very successful in reaching their goals. They moved in systems where one or two days, either through their websites or through virus-infected e-mails they sent to executives.

They focused on financial documents related to the exploration of deposits and contracts to tender. They also made copies of the processes of industrial property. "That information is extremely sensitive and would be worth an enormous amount of money to the competitors," says Alperovitch, who stressed that no evidence so far points to the involvement of the Chinese Government.

An Internet server based in China's Shandong province was where you sent the infected files, and were used Internet addresses in Beijing. McAfee was unable to establish who is behind the intrusions and has already submitted the relevant data to the FBI, reports EP.
