Apple filed a complaint against Amazon for the use of "App Store"

Apple announced on Monday evening to have filed a complaint in California against Amazon for copyright infringement. The Cupertino company accuses the largest online booksellers use the terms "App Store" (application store), for which Apple has filed a trademark application. "We have asked Amazon to not copy the name 'App Store' because it leads to confusion in the minds of consumers," detailed a spokesman for Apple.

The term "App Store", popularized by Apple's iPhone, has passed into everyday language, and is regularly used including French and other languages. STEVE JOBS WILL BE HEARD IN THE CONTEXT OF ANTI-TRUST Meanwhile, Apple CEO Steve Jobs will be heard by a federal judge in the proceedings brought by consumers grouped in 2005, after an amendment Software iPods blocking playback music files in Real Player.

"The court finds that Mr. Jobs has a unique knowledge and first hand facts that were at the heart of the conflict on software from Real Networks," the judge wrote. Several procedures for abuse of dominant position impeding competition are Apple, including its online store iTunes store and its applications.

The company, which largely dominates the digital music sector, is suspected by U.S. authorities for price fixing, and charged by Amazon have put pressure on record companies to obtain exclusivity clauses in detriment of Amazon. These investigations are still preliminary in the United States.
