Panasonic SDT750, analysis of a video camera with extra 3D total

Now that we've lost the fear of the 3D world and there are manufacturers who opt for this type of content in their cameras, Panasonic confirms its commitment to domestic 3D video cameras. The SDT750 we've tested in Tech News Buzz is the first that has reached the market. And the result is so good that we have been surprised.

We confess that we were expecting something more anecdotal SDT750 the Panasonic but the first serious 3D camera by the general public more than met. On one side is a (if not the best) home high definition camera in 2D mode, but also doubles as a cute feature creating three-dimensional stories with some buts, but to be a new market, to comply with notice.

Although this Panasonic SDT750 we've tested in Tech News Buzz have to think in 3D, we must not imagine this camcorder as an intruder. Its base is well known and is also proven quality. In fact, the dimensional factor is achieved with an accessory that overlaps and is not something that is integrated into the camcorder itself.

This provision has its advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that practically we get two cameras in one. The base warranty is SDT750 because the series has proven to be derived almost perfect in terms of image quality. The drawbacks are the loss of ergonomics (very large) having to add the attachment, which must also be calibrated in each assembly.

As noted, the picture quality of Panasonic SDT750 in 2D mode admits of no discussion. Its three sensors generate a good size and outstanding data flow resulting in tremendous quality images even in difficult lighting conditions (light shooting with only 1.6 lx). The sharpness, saturation or hue of them are incredible.

In addition, everything is caked in a very compact, with an interesting angle of 35 mm, manual controls, hot shoe, a zoom of 12 magnifications well placed and manual focus ring. Furthermore, the objective is a bright F1.5 Leica Dicomar with that is very noticeable when light is scarce. The Crystal Engine image processor and stabilizer PRO S Hybrid OI do the rest.

All these values remain as (with some details to be discussed later) by placing the 3D module. We also note this Panasonic camcorder its 3-inch screen and HDMI output, with which we can dump immediately 1080p HD video to the big screen to enjoy the quality and dwarves. As I have advanced, the disadvantage of not being the Panasonic SDT750 3D camera detrimental one building into two main areas: ergonomics and having to place and remove the "3D Objects" manually.

The goal that puts the camcorder in the bulky three-dimensional universe as much as the camcorder itself, and adds an extra length makes quite resolved ergonomics basic mode will suffer greatly. We practice a lot sooner if fans want to look like three to one quarter when we put the 3D lens.

In addition, extra weight is distributed and takes some getting used uncompensated. The add an extra element also has the disadvantage that the objective should be calibrated every time I ride. It is a simple process and is guided at all times by the camcorder, but that creates a preparation time before each video in 3D after passing through the 2D, which limits its use quickly.

Does not seem an inconvenience to highlight it if we get a good result in three dimensions we must plan and take us every scene in stride. Regarding the 3D image quality we get, each lens will record video at 960 x 1080 pixels (system side by side), and the result is quite acceptable, without of course the level of the video without lens.

On the 3D effect is achieved, we have been quite satisfied, because if we take care of aspects such as minimum distance to record, not to abuse or be abrupt close with the movement of the camera and the scenes, we can delight our visitors with adventure which the 3D effect is noticeable and quite achieved.

We liked the results of our tests. Yes, you need a 3D TV, not worth the camcorder screen. We must also bear in mind that when we are recording in 3D mode and there are many limitations SDT750 Panasonic becomes a point and shoot camera only. More negative we feel that there is no possibility to use 3D camera and lens to take pictures in three dimensions.

Panasonic has lost this as an opportunity to position itself well against the compact cameras. Buy SDT750 is a major investment and that would have been a complete breakdown of the Japanese. With the advanced compact SLR for years in getting the video world seriously, and pocket camcorders and mobile phones competing in the "here you rascal, you recorded here, serious camcorders are being very specific elements.

And that quality and likely is a stretch even with their supposed rivals. 3D mode SDT750 Panasonic introduces this is a good entertainer and an extra market that the consumer should receive a favorable light. If the base of the camcorder is also a series that gets spectacular results and has a good size and ergonomics, as well as controls and expandability with accessories, all are joys.

€ 1,500 (if we look at the official price of the Panasonic website, but we can find offers for a few euros on the Internet 1100-1300) separate the consumer from this camcorder, but knowing that it brings the best of the domestic market as well as a two-dimensional juicy extra work, it seems a good combination.

It now remains whether the consumer finds the 3D mode as an inducement enough, if only to give substance to 3DTV left the room.
