Mountain GTM 2000, analysis (II): benchmarks

We started as an analysis of a more technical of Mountain GTM 2000. This is the second input and discuss it some synthetic benchmarks, comparing the results with some of the last settings that we tested in our test team, the Mountain GTM 900, which becomes higher than the 2000 model, the protagonist of this analysis .

The comparison is interesting because we talked about two brothers together: The GTM 900 features a Core i7-920 of the previous generation, while the GTM 2000 includes a 2500K i5 'Sandy Bridge' of the last batch. We'll see how the processor is quite similar in performance to the i7-920, but at the moment of truth the graphics card matters a lot.

Our test Mountan GTM 2000 includes a NVidia GTX 570, which we compared in 3DMark 11 and FurMark with all the latest generation GPUs from both AMD and NVidia. Graphics performance in video games we'll leave for the next three entries, leaving pure today benchmarks and comparisons on other computers.

Three tests to calculate 1, 2 and 4 million digits of Pi. A shorter time is better: Note: this is a very general comparison in which we compare some teams that have passed through our hands in recent years, both desktop and laptop computers. This time we will compare the Mountain GTM 2000 with our test team, the GTM 900 and all next-generation GPU we've tested it.

We will restrict tests under 3DMark 11 (DirectX 11) and only the latest generation GPU, both 500 Series of 6000 Series NVidia and AMD. The higher numbers are better. Another benchmark in which we compare with the results provided by the GTM 900. FurMark benchmark is a stress that overloads the GPU to the max: The higher numbers are better.

They are simple and very general benchmarks. First, SuperPi is a program that does not use parallelization, so that it only uses one of the multiple cores available to the GTM 2000 and the CPU, the Intel Core i5-2500K. As expected has been the fastest computer on all the tests, followed by a considerable distance from Mountain i7-920 GTM 900.

Regarding the evidence for 3DMark 11 as of FurMark already beginning to see that Mountain GTM 2000 is very similar to that GTM 900 in terms of overall performance. For both tests is very important that we use the graphics card, and in this case we speak about a GTX 570 that must be considered high end, although there are better (see AMD or NVidia 6970 GTX 580) and something worse.

Obviously this is only the beginning of a series of tests have to Mountain GTM 2000. In the next three entries we see the behavior of this machine with different graphics cards, starting with some NVidia brand and followed by those of AMD. These tests are much more interesting, speaking of tests for which the GTM 2000 is prepared: graphics performance.
