MEMO EeePad, we tested at CeBit 2011

After the last earful Asus those responsible for his performance in the last Mobile World Congress, we are happy to admit that its presentation at CeBIT 2011 has been the opposite. Apart from a booth the size of a village, Taiwan showed some interesting developments among which is the Asus EeePad MEMO, its latest tablet, which will hit stores around June.

The MEMO EeePad plays in the same league as the HTC Flyer. This is a half tablet with 7-inch screen resolution 1024 x 600 pixels. The capacitive touch support, but Asus has integrated into housing a small specific stylus can be used instead of fingers. Technically, the MEMO EeePad stays in the middle echelons below the dual-core tablets.

Is powered by a Qualcomm 8260 processor at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM and between 8 and 64GB storage capacity depending on model. The sample we saw at CeBIT had Froyo custom interface with the company, but Asus will market directly with Honeycomb. What is now a question is whether also customize or leave it spotless.

In any case, the driving experience of the memo is not as satisfactory as it should. Although compatible with Flash navigation, and can record and play back video in 1080p HD at 30fps, weight management interface a bit. Perhaps it is the rich graphics Asus layer or the concrete prototype that we tested.

We will have to wait to see the final to give a verdict. Physically, the memo is extremely portable and lightweight, with dimensions of 198.5 × 116.8 × 11.5 mm and weighing only 389 grams. The rearview camera is 5 megapixel with LED flash and battery promises an excellent performance, with up to 8 hours video playback theoretical, which is what most consumes energy.

The MEMO EeePad Asus stylus is not mail or have buttons with additional features such as the HTC Flyer, but instead may be stored in the casing. The stylus tip is soft and one of its peculiarities is that it allows the display to respond to pressure. In the drawing program that comes with the tablet, for example, strokes respond with great sensitivity, making the memo in an interesting tool for design professionals, architects and artists.

One of the things we most liked the memo is, by far, an accessory that will also come standard with the tablet without additional outlay. This is a mobile, at least in appearance, because it's actually a Bluetooth terminal is synchronized with the tablet. This paste allows mobile voice calls or check incoming messages from various sources in a manner similar to the concept of Sony Ericsson LiveView.

Terminal screen, as you can see in the pictures are clear. Since Asus told us that this is only a design choice. The auxiliary terminal was off when we saw at the show, so we can not judge the behavior or your screen resolution, particularly in bright environments. The MEMO EeePad with your stylus and 'mobile' auxiliary will be available in June at prices ranging between 400 and 700 euros depending on storage capacity.

Asus tablets of all, the memo may be the most interesting concept. All that remains is to see if the delay in the interface is fixed in the final version.
