Google unveils its tablet to compete with Apple iPad

A year after the release of IPAD, Google moves on, still timidly, to compete in the market for tablets. Hugo Barra, director of mobile development at Google, was master of ceremonies at a presentation intended for developers. There were no big surprises, but many examples of use. The first tablet is manufactured by Motorola, has released a new version of the operating system, HoneyComb, adapted for these devices and gives the feeling of being an Android, such as phones but intended for use in horizontal.

The device is called Xoom and still has no release date. It is not known the price or battery life. As in Google phones, the biggest difference to iPad and iPhone are the 'widgets', as referred to applications that run directly on your desktop. These programs can be open mail, calendar, weather forecasts or news.

As has been seen on the screen, the device has six desks and stands out for its ability to multitask. In this adaptation of the classic applications themselves have been refurbished properly. GMail has a third column to better see the emails. GTalk serve to make video and YouTube will interface with ball feeling and thought to play with all fingers to choose the video.

Among the strengths is the ability of graphics and multimedia device. Hugo bar graphs comparing the power of the Sony PlayStation 3 console. Although there was a representative of CNN and other Disney to display the charms of their applications. Changes in the Android Market, App Store are remarkable, the amount and quality of them remains the Achilles heel of this device.

In fact, since Google developers are invited to join in the creation of content and applications with a profit view. The following quote, probably intended for a wider audience and not just for developers will be at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where 50 engineers from Google will be to teach the operation.
