A hacker trying to blackmail Nintendo

The Japanese multinational Nintendo has been the victim of a blackmail attempt by a hacker Spanish, who stole a list of 4000 customers, announced Monday by Spanish police. A man was remanded in custody and is suspected of stealing a database company, containing personal information about 4,000 Spanish customers.

He threatened to publish on a specialized forum, or to denounce the company with the Spanish authorities for "negligence" in protecting personal data, police said in a statement. This hacker, whose identity is not revealed, had contacted the leadership of Nintendo Spain "to reach an agreement" with it.

Since Nintendo does not reply, the hacker began broadcasting the coordinates of a first client on a discussion forum technology well known and threatened to release the rest of his list. "Investigators have located the intruder and proceeded to his detention" in the region of Malaga (south), "thus avoiding the publication" of personal data of some customers of Nintendo in Spain.
