Xoom Motorola Android 3.0, first impressions

We arrived at the MWC and all I see is people all over the place. People and more people, people around people and people trying to catch a gadget to test. Among them, Xoom Motorola is one of the most beloved in all the Fira de Barcelona. Xoom Motorola stands out as the first with Android 3.0, Honeycomb, offering a very clear difference from previous versions based Android tablets 2.

X. Motorola Xoom is a very good match for iPad, if Apple took the tablet as a reference in the sector. But? Yes, no buts. In 2011 we could test MWC Motorola Xoom, and left us feeling somewhat pessimistic about. But be careful, have a solution and probably the final product is much better than we have tinkering, a version still in development.

Motorola said of Xoom is a large tablet is to say nothing. Its display is 10.1 inches, so it is just that: a tablet of the largest in the market. He is not heavy, much less, but not as light as other smaller models. The design is elegant, very simple with hardly any physical buttons, all user interaction is through the screen.

I already advance that Android 3.0 Honeycomb interface is very different from what we saw earlier in the Google operating system. Android 3.0 is by and for tablets. Android 3.0 is, without doubt, the big difference from earlier tablets Android. Honeycomb greatly improves the user experience of a tablet.

We will not have a tablet with a mobile phone operating system if not a tablet with a tablet operating system. What should have been from the beginning. Android 3.0 interface is clean, clear and well structured. Take advantage of all the display spaces and places where we hope encontrárnoslos items.

The base of the system remains: several screen, pressing a button menu and great brand positioning within all Google applications: Gmail, Google Maps, etc. Green, very green. We have to be so clear. Fortunately, as we mentioned at the beginning of this post, is something that has a solution.

Xoom Motorola is still a product under development is expected to be released before summer Spanish. Still do not have specific dates, nor the price. Motorola Xoom problems come to light as you come across a device. First of all, applications sometimes show slow and clumsy, are hung and not responding.

It is hoped that as they fix bugs on the operating system will minimize this type of software problems. Another small disadvantage - which, again, a priori should be temporary - is that the interface is not exactly as such. At the bottom are some menu buttons (Back to the main screen, back, etc..) And costs pulse correctly and that the device responds as expected.

In the absence of a clear distinction between display and we often frame by clicking on the outside, with no response from the tablet logic. Within the couple of tables that Motorola has placed in the MWC 2011 would have a total of about 12 Motorola Xoom, and each with its small cargo dock.

The problem is that the connection of the dock with the tablet is quite complicated and difficult to fit it to the first. You have to bend down, look where the hole in the microUSB and sensible. I acknowledge that I left after several attempts to impossible. What is the result? That after many hours of work - the fair was to cram - all Xoom were practically no load.

The truth is that we have gone quite happy after our first experience with the Motorola Xoom. It is a new generation tablet (many are already talking about the second generation of Android tablets) to very strong commitment by Android 3.0, Honeycomb. His great strength is precisely the operating system, Android: a renewed and much improved version over the previous.

It is noted that this time is designed for tablets. On the other hand, the drawbacks we have mentioned are due mainly to the software. And it's not forget that this Xoom was presented at the last CES and its release date has not yet been realized. He still has a few months to fix bugs, optimize the code, and this time it hit the stores to be an excellent competitor of any tablet that may arise.
